How to bid
7.00pm
Monday 22nd
June 2009,
Lyon & Turnbull,
33 Broughton Place, Edinburgh
EH1 3RR
1. Bidding at the auction.
When you arrive at the auction house you must complete a form with
your personal details. To save time you have the option of
doing this on-line here. Prior
to commencement of the auction you will be given a card which will be
used to identify you to the auctioneer and his assistants. Please make
your bid clearly by raising your card and in the event of you winning
any item, please make your way to the payment area either immediately if
you are not purchasing anything else, or after the close of the auction.
We do ask you to come along to the auction house with a photo-id such as a
driving licence or passport and a utility bill so that we can establish proof of
identity.
2. Bidding in advance
From two weeks prior to the auction you will be able to register as a
bidder. You can also bid for items without having to be present. There
will be a form to fill out in which you must provide your payment
details and the maximum amount that you wish to bid.
During the auction, one of our assistants will bid on your behalf up to
the maximum amount that you have advised. If other bidders drop out, of
course you may win the item for far less than your maximum.
This service can only be provided for a limited number of bidders.
Please fill out your advance bidding form as soon as possible. We will
advise you by email if we are able to bid on your behalf.
3. Payment
There is no commission to add to the sale price - the price you bid is
the price that you pay. You can pay by cash, credit card, debit
card or direct bank transfer. Samaritans will keep the artwork in
their possession until payment is received. We ask for you to use
bank debit card or direct bank transfer where possible - please remember
that we are a charity, we are ENTIRELY self funded and that credit card
commission directly lowers our income.
You will be provided with a receipt for your purchase and we will ask
you to sign for the artwork when handed over to you.

With grateful thanks to
